Three things I found out about government are one George Bush Sr. is a down to earth guy and has a good memory, but Ronald Regan could talk to you one minute and wouldn't remember you ten minutes later. Two I learned his opinon on how he feels about having two different languages in the United States and that he felt he would rather just have one and that be Engilish. And finally I found out that some of the people in government start to feel like celeberties because of how much power they have.

I learned that even though the government seems like its not doing a good job. its going the best it can with the people it has. Also there is a lot more corrupted people in the government then there used to be and most people join a government job from ether the "celebrity" status or for other reasons besides to help the country.

I enjoyed Mr. Lightfoot's visit and I learned a great deal. I learned that people in government do think that we are the best government and they stay with that. I really liked how real Mr. Lightfoot was with us. He seemed to really care about us. I learned that Iowa has 5 senators and that number came from the population of the country. He shared his views without demeaning his opposing party. I respected that a lot. Again, I'm glad he came.

1) I also didn't realize that Iowa had 5 representatives while other states had so many more based on the population of each state. 2) By giving us his opinion about having more than one main language in a country, I realized that I too don't agree with making two languages dominate. 3) Another thing that Mr. Lightfoot said that struck my attention was how people treated people like himself, a chairman, and others that held important positions in the white house. I found it interesting that people would address him as "Mr. Chairman" or stand up when he walked into a room. I really enjoyed Mr. Lightfoo's discussion with the class and since then i've done my own research on him and his life.

mr. lightfoot gave us a very indepth look at how the govt looks from the inside.
1. we have 5 senators, and we used to have 8

2. i also learned how much more complicated it is to have a second langueage, even financially

3.He also explained how frustrating it was to pass laws, he stated that it would take so long and one person who disagrees could ruin it in a hurry.

i thouroughly enjoyed his presentation, and i am grateful he took the time to come and speak to us.

3 things i learned from having Jim Lightfoot as our guest speaker is that Iowa only has 5 senators and a few years ago it was about 12. I also learned that there is more indepth departments in the government than we think. Everyone has a very special job that makes our government work as it does. The third thing i learned is why we should only have one lanuage because if we have more than one it migh drive our country away from each other and divide us up like in Canada.

It was cool to see someone that actually had a role in our governtment and i learned a great deal. One thing I learned is that if you dont live in Washington then you have to travel their every week that would probably get expensive. The other thing i learned is that every part of our government even the little guy is important. Also Even one vote like in the presidential race just a few votes changed who was president.

ThE ThReE ThInGs I LeArNeD ArE:

1. Mr. Lighfoots opinion on how many languages should be known in America, which my opinion is alot alike.

2. People enter into the government, sometimes just to get fame and more known.

3. That people that may come off as mean or different people in the Government, but when you actually meet them, they arent all that bad, like RR and GBsr..

I learned a few new things from Mr. Lightfoot. It was interesting how many people he got to meet when he was in Washington. It was also interesting that he said that some of the people working in our government are so old that they can even put the paper in the slot but yet they are helping to run our country. It was also interesting that one person was supposted to be in charge of such a large area of a state. It puts a lot of reponsibility on one person and if it is one of the old people who can't even walk then it is no wonder why are government can have problems and people aren't happy.

Three things that I learned about government from Jim Lightfoot is that you can't always believe everything that the candidates say. They are the ones who write what they are all about. They are for whatever the people they are trying to convince are for. I learned that Ronald Reagan was the type of guy who would forget you once as you left. I also learned that George Bush Sr. would remember who you are and even ask how your family is doing. I also learned that he was one of the people who controlled the budget for the nation.

He said that when you buy $2.40 worth of gas you are paying like 20 cents in taxes and you are really paying for $2.20 worth of gas. Also, his vision on the current issue of the U.S. not having an official language is that we should make english our official language. Also, he told us that after poeople in government write things about themselves enough, they begin to believe themselves.

One thing I found out was how the people in our government really are. I think he was right about some of them staying around for too long, especially if some are nearly dead, yet still there. I also agree with what he said about some of the people running our government forgetting about what's really good for the people, instead focusing on getting elected or more on what they really believe. I never really thought about that before, and was interested to learn that. I also never thought of George Bush Senior as a down to earth guy. So thats something else I learned.

three things that that i learned is that the gas were paying is really 2.40 and the other goes to taxes. i also learned that if you put your mind to you can achieve it. Like him being a farm boy and becoming a senator. The other thing is that the official should be English

One thing i learned from Mr. Lightfoot is that you should not make government a carreer. I like how he made it a 12 year long hobby. I also learned that the presidential candidates write their own stories, which really bothered me because they could be fake and nobody would know. I also did not know before he came how many senators we have, but now i know it's dropped from 12 to 5.

I learned many things from Mr. Lightfoot's visit

1: That it would be very expensive to have to official languages in the United States.

2. That the number of representatives for a state can change over the years.

3. Some people only try to get into government positions for fame, they do not really care about the people they only care about themselves.

three things that i learned from Jim Lightfoot are that today the state of iowa has 5 senators. The state of iowa has a twenty cent tax of each gallon of gas purchased. I also learned that Georeg Bush Sr. is a very down to earth person and Ronald Regan is the total opposite.

I learned many things from Mr. Lightfoot's visit. One thing being gas prices(tax). I had no idea that Washington's gas tax was 40 cents more than Iowa's. I also learned that Iowa had 5 representatives, but other states may have more based upon a certain state's population. Mr. Lightfoot also told us about the different personalities of certain ex-presidents. For example, Mr. Bush Sr. has an excellent memory and is a very down to earth sit and talk for hours kind of guy while Mr. Reagan has absolutely no memory of who you are or where you came from(possibly early signs of ahlzimers).
Mr. LIghtfoot told us much more, it just happens to escape my memory at the moment.

1. He doesn't think that we should have more than one lanuage in the U.S.
